Design Tips

When you are designing web pages with the intent of adding click-through banners or commission per sale links, there are three popular ways to achieve your desire and succeed with your efforts:

Related Content

The most obvious concept is to carefully select an affiliate program (or a few) that match the content of your website. If you offer a graphics site, for instance, you could feature affiliate programs selling graphical filters or offering clip art online for a membership fee. If you have a sports site, you may consider an affiliate program selling subscriptions to sports-related magazines or one that offers online sports betting. If your content is relationship focused, you would strongly consider the online personals services to become an affiliate with.

The "related content" concept only makes sense, as you have already developed the web site and you've used all the appropriate keywords and promotion tools to drive visitors to your web site that are interested in the specific content you offer. Why not take it one step further, and offer them yet another link that not only appeals to them but offers you a monetary return? Some of the most successful affiliate program participators are those that offer totally content-related pay back links on their websites.

Dedicated Site

The concept of a Dedicated Site for a single affiliate program is a growing one, and if handled properly, appears to be nothing at ALL like an affiliate program. I will offer here, for the purpose of example, the magazine subscription affiliate program offered by Enews.com. This program allows extensive flexibility in presentation, from the simple link-through banner to complex, select by magazine type offerings.

Utilizing the extreme flexibility of their program, take a look at how three separate individuals have capitalized with their affiliate program while offering a dedicated site that appears to be an "expert" provider of subscriptions. You'll find that each site has exactly the same links back, through the Enews.com network, with their own specific user ID for payment purposes:

www.absolutemagazines.com
www.mymagazines.com
www.sportsnuts.com

This concept, of course, can be expanded on in any area of Affiliate Program products - down to the "online personals" where you could offer dating tips and other information and link out to your affiliate partner. The dedicated site is an excellent idea for a successful presentation, particularly in light of all the "free webspace" available on the internet!

Instructional Sites

For lack of better definition, with "Instructional Sites" I am referring to sites like this one - dedicated to showing you the various programs that are available, how to get to them, and, at the same time, allowing me the opportunity to add the banners and accept YOUR click-throughs. There is no reason to "veil" that little extra intent - after all, you've found this website because you were seeking ways to profit over the internet. If you've made it this far, then you've already acknowledged the success of the instructional site!

The only caveat in creating an instructional site is you will have to do your own research and reporting on the programs. A small price to pay, actually, as it will ultimately determine the success of your effort!
